We have begun thinking in terms of European measurements and standards - feet to meters - dollars to Euros - gallons to liters - pounds to kilos - Fahrenheit to Celsius ...and have even changed the page on this site regarding TwoLoose to reflect her measurements in meters as well as feet etc Other issues for us will be to accommodate the different power & fuel standards we will see outside the US: - electrical: 220 vs 110; 50cycle vs 60cycle - propane vs butane
When: depart late June 2011; arrive mid/late July 2011 Who: We are very excited at the prospect of having Hokie Bob join us in 2011 for the crossing - he will be a great asset! Where: departure point: ?TBD?, USA; destination: Gibraltar, by way of the Azores Islands. How: follow as best we can route(s) recommended in J. Cornell's book "World Cruising Routes". We had to cancel our reservations for the 2011 EMYR so we will attempt to get reservations for the 2012 EMYR. Part II Transit the Med to arrive Turkey before end of season (October/November 2011); season restarts April/May 2012 when we hope to participate in the 2012 Eastern Mediterranean Yacht Rally (EMYR) which starts in Istanbul and ends in Egypt.

We have received the Winslow 4 person Life raft which we ordered in the '09 Annapolis Boat Show and it is installed. We still need to continue to supply our ditch bag and find a convenient place on the boat to stow it... We are planning to return from the Bahamas earlier than some others in Spring 2011 to continue our preps for the crossing...
