"It is not the ship so much as the skilled
sailing that assures the prosperous voyage."
--George William Curtis (1817 - 1862)
Thanks to Cap'n Pete,
we had such "skilled sailing" that got
TwoLoose and her 3 person crew
safely across the Atlantic
in June/July of 2011 - prosperous, indeed!
19 - 23 Sep:  We used this time to continue making preparations
for getting underway for points east.  We make a final run for
fresh food & milk from Morrison's (when we finally remember to
take the photo shown at left), we exchange some Gib pounds for
Euros, the dinghy is brought on board and NEMO is lashed into
his new home.  Finally after 40+ days in Gib, we believe we are
ready to depart - really?  In any case we will miss Gib.  We were
VERY comfy (too comfy?) here and look forward to returning -
probably on our way back across the Atlantic.
24 Sep:  "We came out of Gibraltar Bay around 1500 on Saturday
and hooked a left in 20-22 kts of wind (which was really only
supposed to be 10-12) from WSW and had a romping downwind
sail until 1830 when the wind began to die.  By 0200 we were on
the engine in light easterly winds.  This is the first "bad feeling"
we got as the wind shift is at least 20 hours early."

FYI: Fueling in Gibraltar: Lots of
vendors line up one after another on
the long fuel quay. They've been known
to call out to the boats and encourage
them to come to their station! Open 7
days week from 0830-1900. 10%
discount if you take 500+ liters of fuel.
